ARiC Insulation manufactures a complete range of Bakelite insulation products from our facility in Maharashtra, India since 1969. Our range includes Bakelite sheets, rods, tubes, Hylam sheets, and precision-machined Bakelite components — available in both paper-based (SRBP) and fabric-based grades, conforming to IS 2036. Supplied to electrical panel builders, switchgear manufacturers, and transformer OEMs across India.
Bakelite — formally known as phenol formaldehyde resin laminate — is one of the oldest and most widely used electrical insulation materials in the world. Produced by impregnating layers of paper or fabric with phenolic resin under heat and pressure, Bakelite laminates combine good electrical insulation with high mechanical strength, making them a cost-effective and reliable choice for electrical panel components, terminal boards, transformer spacers, and machined insulation parts.
Two base grades are available depending on the application requirement:

Hylam is a trade name for paper-based phenolic laminate — the same material as SRBP Bakelite. Both are made from kraft paper layers impregnated with phenol formaldehyde resin and conform to IS 2036. The terms are used interchangeably in India's electrical industry. We supply both under the same specification.
Paper-based Bakelite (SRBP) uses kraft paper reinforcement — it offers excellent electrical insulation and machinability at lower cost. Fabric-based Bakelite (SRBF) uses woven cotton reinforcement — it has higher mechanical and impact strength, making it suitable for load-bearing and structural insulation applications. We manufacture both grades.
Standard thickness range is 0.5mm to 50mm in both paper-based and fabric-based grades. Custom thicknesses and cut-to-size sheets are available on request.
Yes. We CNC machine Bakelite sheets, rods, and tubes into custom components — terminal boards, spacers, insulators, bushings, and special profiles — to your drawing. Share your specification for a quote.
Yes. Bakelite is used as coil spacers, winding separators, and support components in distribution transformers. For high dielectric strength transformer applications, we also supply pressboard and densified wood components which may be more suitable depending on your design specification.
Yes. We supply Bakelite in sheets, rods, and tubes — in both paper-based and fabric-based grades. All forms are available in standard sizes or custom dimensions as per your requirement.
